Berkey and Foster Claim State Seed Positions at the 3A West Regional

Zack Berkey @ 132 and Nolan Foster @ 145 will be going to the State Championships this weekend in Greensboro.  Zack placed second in the Regional and Nolan placed 3rd.

Zack pinned his way to the finals in all three matches before his first lost of the day in the final.

Nolan placed 4th in the tournament with three decisions.

The Tribe placed 10th overall with 62 team points.

Saint Falls to Enka in the First Round of the State Duals

Enka ran out to an early lead, but Saint still had a mathematical chance to grab the win in the last 3 weight classes of the night. It was not to be as Enka finished with on additional win.  Saint 30 Enka 37.

The Tribe was back on the winning road tonight as it defeated Freedom 64-6.

Saint Falls to South Caldwell 31-36

The Tribe lost its first conference match tonight in a hard fought contest.

Pinning tonight for the Tribe was Tucker Justice and JP Kinson. Zack Berkey had a 15-0 tech fall win with Dakota Griffith and Wanya Rankins grabbing major decisions.

The Tribe is now 2-1 in conference action. The lost tonight was against a 4A conference team.  This lost hurts in the conference championship race, but still leaves a door open for the Tribe to make it to the state playoffs.

Saint Defeats Hickory 54-18

The Tribe rolled to victory over a much improved and determined Hickory group tonight. The score is not indicative of the strides of improvement in the Hickory team. It is good for wrestling that Hickory has returned to a much improved and more complete line up than the past several years. Saint is now 2-0 in conference action and 24-8 overall.

Pinning for the Tribe tonight were Eddie Brannock, Dakota Griffith, Zack Berkey, Amos Brown, and Tucker Justice.

Saint went 4-1 on Saturday with wins over Ashe County, TC Roberson, Bandys,, and West Wilkes. We lost to Alexander Central.

Saint Falls to Cary and Defeats Sanderson

In dual match action, Saint fell to Cary 33-46.  In the second match of the day, Saint defeated Sanderson 40-34.

Saint Places 2nd at Cary

Saint finished in second behind Cary at the Sgt. Mark Adams Tournament tonight.  12 out of 14 wrestlers medaled in the top 6 in their weight class across 15 schools.

Saint Downs East Burke and Bandys

Saint avenged an earlier 1 point season lost to East Burke with a determined 43-24 win.  Saint then went on to defeat Bandys 71-2.

Saint Sweeps at Providence Duals

Saint grabbed four straight wins at the Providence Duals. The scores against Providence 51-25, Pinecrest 50-24, Avery County 70-6,
and Parkwood 65-18.

Saint placed four into the finals, but did not get a champion in the 43rd Annual Indian Classic.  Zack Berkey, Nolan Foster, JP Kinson, and Wanya Rankins all finished second in their weight classes. Dakota Griffith placed 3rd @ 126. Angel Romero @152 and Tucker Justice @ 160 placed 4th.

Nolan has now passed the 50 Career Win Milestone.
 His win to take him into the 145 Class finals was his 50th career win.

Saint Wins Two At Maiden Tri-Meet

Saint won two tight matches on Tuesday night.  The first win of the night was against Maiden with a 38-37 score.  Saint was down 34-37 when it came down to the final match with Nolan Foster.  A simple decision win by Saint would tie the score, but Saint would lose the match by criteria.  Nolan pulled out a major decision in a 13-5 win and would gain the Tribe 4 team points for a 38-37 win.

The second match of the night was with North Lincoln.  Saint was ahead 33-30 going into the last match.  Angel Romero won the match with a pin which gave the Tribe a 39-30 win.

This night of wrestling pushed the our young wrestlers to dig a little deeper and they came through with two tough wins.

Saint Places 3rd at the 2014 Indian Duals

Saint won 3 of their 5 matches in the Indian Duals.  The losses were to Davie County 61-12, and to Glenn 42-32 in the match for second place. 

Saint defeated  Bunker Hill 74-6, North Iredell 51-18, and Chase 46-21.

Saint Places 3rd at the South Caldwell Duals

After an opening lost against East Burke 35-38, the Tribe grabbed four consecutive wins to claim the 3rd spot in the dual tournament.

Saint went on to win against West Caldwell 51-25, Lincolnton 70-12, a default win against the no-show Alleghany, and Chase 51-18 in the consolation finals.

Saint Wins Two in the Season Opener

Saint defeated Draughn 72-9  in our opening match of the night. Draughn was out manned giving up 6 forfeits and 6 pins.  Pinning for the Tribe was Zack Berkey, Juan Loredo, Tucker Justice, JP Kinson, Dakota Wallis, and Tanner Milam.

Saint outlasted a tough West Caldwell team with a 48-27 win.  Pinning for the Tribe was Luke Queen, Dakota Griffith, Dakota Wallis, and Wanya Rankins.

Saint is now 2-0 and travels this Saturday to South Caldwell where we will wrestle in 5 matches.  Start time is 9:00 am.

Milestone Congratulations to Juan Loredo

Juan won is 25th career win against Draughn's Quinten Branch with a 0:32 first period pin in the 138 classification.

Parent Meeting this Saturday 11-15-2014

Our season has started and we are required to have a parent meeting to cover many school and team items of concern. 

The meeting will be the Saturday, 11-15-2014, at 10:00 AM in the school lunchroom. 

Please make every effort to be there to fulfill this necessary requirement. 

Coach Baker will conduct the meeting and answer any questions you may have about our program.

Quayon Moody Wins 220 Honey Badger

Quay competed in the 3rd Annual 2014 Honey Badger on Oct.4th, 2014.  He finish the tournament as the Champion in his weight class and was award the Honey Badger Singlet.
