Saint Defeats Hickory and Alexander Central on Senior Night.

The Seniors were honored tonight for their years of hardwork and dedication to the Saint Wrestling Team. Ray Farnsworth, Jesse Hudson, Dillon Lail, Jon Holloway, Chuck Moore, Alex Pollard, and Jonn-Marc Stevenson were recognized for their time with the team with the reading of their accomplishments.

The first match was with Hickory which ende in an 84-0 win for Saint. Nothing else to say on that.

The Alexander Central match turned out to be a nail bitter until the last three matches. Although the final score of Saint 43 Alexander Central 19 would not sound close, the score was 28-19 Saint with 3 weight classes to go. Three pins by AC would have taken the match from Saint at 28-37.

A shift was made to bump up Warren Boyett who decisioned at 19-13. This made the score 31-19 with 12 points still yet to be claimed in the two final matches.

Dale Huffman slammed the door on an AC come back when he pinned his opponent in 1:13 of the first period. This made the score 37-19 and, with only one match to go, sealed the win for Saint.

Matthew Baker pushed out the Saint lead with a 1:15 pin to go ahead 43-19.

Saint finishes the conference season with a 5-1 record and now at 22-4 overall this season. Hopefully we will get a wildcard pick in the State Duals next week.

Saint Falls to Foard 33-36

It was a battle to the end with the Tribe trying to defeat the #5 ranked Tiger from Foard. It was down to the last match, but the outcome had already been lost due to criteria rules. If the score ended in a tie, the Tigers would still have won because they had more team pins than the Tribe. They had 5, we had 3. Overall we also tied in matches won. We won 7, they won 7. It was even of a match as both teams have had all season. It all came down to a few points here, a few points there. Our guys battled hard. Both teams, and fans, made it a night to remember for high school wrestling.

Pinning for the Tribe tonight was Dillon Lail, Dale Huffman, and Blake Rogers. Ray Farnsworth won by techfall 15-0. Ian Martin won by major decision 14-6. Winning by decision was Bradley Bader and Alex Pollard.

The lost was the second dual lost in conference action in 3 years. The last lost was to Newton. The lost may also keep us out of the State Duals unless we are selected in as a wild card by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.

The Tribe is now 3-1 in conference action and will host Alexander Central the Tuesday 2-1-2011. There are plans to also have the postponed Hickory match before the Alexander match so we can close out the conference dual season.

The conference tournament will be this coming Saturday at Fred T. Foard. The seed meeting will be this Wedneday night.

Saint Downs Hibriten 62-15

Tonight's match started off with the highlight match up of the evening with our Ian Martin facing the state champion Scott Hardiman at 135. The match was closely contested throughout the match. Hardiman obtained the first takedown in the first period, but was unable to score any further in the period. Hardiman took down in the second period and quickly obtained a reversal to go up 0-4. Just at the closing seconds of the second period, Ian scored a reversal to pull the score into 2-4. Ian went down in the third period scored and escape and then a takedown to go up 5-4. With less than 20 seconds left on the clock it looked like a upset was at hand for Ian, but Hardiman kept scrambling on bottom and grabbed a "Peterson Role" for a reversal 2 and nearfall 3. The match ended 5-9. It was a great effort by both wrestlers. Congratulations to our Ian Martin on an outstanding effort.

The Tribe was down at this point 0-3 in the team scoring. Dillon Lail and Zach Fincannon were our next two wrestlers and both scored major decisions on their opponents. Dillon's score ended at 18-8 and Zach's score was 21-12. These two wins pushed the Tribe into the lead 8-3 and then Tribe went on a pinning spree.

Of the next eleven matches the Tribe pinned nine wrestlers.
Jon Holloway pinned at 1:10.
Jonn-Marc Stevenson pushed out to a 13-1 lead before pinning at 3:35
Warren Boyett pinned at 0:32
Dale Huffman ground out to a 7-1 lead before pinning at 2:54
Blake Rogers pinned at 0:48
Bradley Bader pinned at 1:15
Chris Hunt pinned at 1:38
Ray "Farnsworthy" pinned at 0:21. (I guess the announcer fired him up)
Alex Pollard pinned at 1:52.

Saint Wins Over South Caldwell

Saint pulled away at the end of the match to overcome South Caldwell 42-32. South Caldwell pounded out a quick 0-12 lead to start the match before Saint could get on the board with a win. Blake Rogers started the scoring for the Tribe with a pin to cut the lead to 6-12. Bradley Bader, Ray Farwnsworth, Alex Pollard and Ian Martin won with pins to push the Tribe ahead 30-17. Dillon Lail added a major decision, Jon Holloway added a techfall, and Jonn-Marc Stevenson added a decision to close out the Tribe scoring. Saint is now 2-0 in conference action in the Northwestern 4a/3a Conference.

Saint also wrestled two other matches tonight and won both matches to take their overall record for this year to 19-3. Saint defeated West Caldwell 54-22 and Lincolnton 65-12.

Congratulations to Ian Martin
Ian reached his
100th Career Win Milestone tonight with a third period pin against Lincolnton.
The pin came at 4:48 in the third period against Chad Smith.

Saint Defeats Watauga

FINALLY, WE GET TO WRESTLE!!!!! The snow forced the loss and/or postponement of a lot of matches for the Tribe's season. Tonight was the first match for our wrestlers since Dec 31, 2010.

The match was close to being won from the outset when Watauga had to forfeit the first four weight classes. Starting out with a 24-0 lead, the Tribe went on to win 62-15.

Pinning tonight for the Tribe were Warren Boyett, Dale Huffman, Dillon Lominac, Bradley Bader, and Ray Farnsworth.

Jon Holloway achieved a techfall over his opponent with a 20-4 win.

The match of the night was when our Blake Rogers 103 went against Watauga's 6th ranked wrestler Gus Coffey. Blake had lost earlier in the year to Coffey 5-2 at the West Lincoln Rebel Duals. Tonight was different as Blake went on the attach early to get up in the match. Blake got the first takedown of the match in the first period to go up 2-0. Late in the first period Coffey obtained a reversal to even the score to 2-2. Second period was full of action with Coffey scoring from bottom to go up 2-3. Blake scored a second takedown and forced a nearfall 3 to regain and hold on to the lead to win the match. This was a huge accomplishment for Blake going into the conference season.

Saint is now 16-3 overall with a 1-0 conference record.

I have activated the Conference Statics page on the Latest News section. You can see each wrestlers conference records without the overlay of the season long records. Also the Northwestern Conference page has been updated to show the rescheduled dates from all the conference matchups.

Saint Finishes 7th at King of the Mat

Due to previous injuries and holidays, the Tribe only entered 9 wrestlers into the tournament. So, we were extremely proud of the team's perfomance against very tough competition. The Tribe placed 5 wrestlers in the top 8 places.

Ray Farnsworth clearly dominated his weight class and won the 119 Championship with four pins and one 15-0 techfall. His finals match was against Jacob Grigg of East Gaston. Ray pinned at 0:58 in the first period.

Saint Over Comes Red Devils for Dual Meet Win 41-34

Testing one, two, three. Testing one, two, three. Is the microphone working? Nancy, pedal a little harder on that generator.
The Saint Wrestling Super Station is BACK on the AIR!!!

Man, what a night of wrestling for the home team. It was a night when the team, Newton-Conover, from the other end of God's Highway, County Home Road, came to overcome the loss to Saint in last week's Indian Classic. Tonight's match ups would pit several wrestlers back together again for a rematch from the Indian Classic.

The starting weight class was 130 and Newton-Conover won the toss. They had the driver's seat on key weight class matchups. Saint's home stands were filled with wrestling alumni, worried parents, old time wrestling supporters, and student body members. The house lights in Baker Arena were dimmed. With the center mat light shining brightly, the Ring of Fire was heating up. The intensity of combat in the air was choking. The pressure was on our Senior Leaders and their underclassmen brothers to win the night for Saint. Pins would be the key to a win tonight for both teams.

Just how intense was the spirit of combat for both teams? So intense that both team's seniors elected for their whole team to wear their "Final's Singlet" in tonight's match. The "Final's Singlet" is a special singlet usually worn only in an individual tournament's championship match. Tonight has so much tradition and passion for defeating the other team, there was no choice other than to wear the "Final's Singlet".

130: Senior Alex Pollard stormed the mat with intensity. A quick takedown and a nearfall3 was scored within a few seconds. Alex never lost control and finished the pin in 1:09. The Saint crowd came alive. Saint 6 NC 0.

135: Junior Ian Martin wrestled a full six minute match and won with takedowns and control. With 3 takedowns and a reversal at the start of the second period, Ian won a decision 8-3. First period action came with Ian gaining a takedown with a leg attack. NC worked an escape in the closing seconds to make the score 2-1. Second period Ian took down and worked a reversal and rode out the period, 4-1. Third period had the big action of the match. NC took down and scored an escape and pulling the score closer 4-2. Ian attacked again and score a takedown, 6-3, but NC had no quit in him and score another quick escape, 6-4. Time draining out in the third and NC needed a takedown to tie. The two wrestlers were in a tight in fighting clinch, then a flurry of twist and turns and then "The Martin LAUNCH". Ian gained the leverage position and sent NC through the air out of bounds, but Ian was still in control of a head and arm and his feet were still in bounds. "2" yelled the official and time ran out. The match was over, Ian won 8-3. Saint 9 NC 0.

140: Sophomore Jared Renner, a new varsity starter, took the mat to hold the line for Saint. Against a more experienced opponent that was capable of gaining 6 points for NC, Jared showed the heart of a young Saint Wrestler and fought out of 4 nearfall situations to avoid a 6 point pin for NC. Jared held off for a techfall. Saint 9 NC 5.

The next 4 matches were critical to success of the Tribe tonight. NC is loaded in the heavy part of their line up. Our middle weights had to perform.

145: Senior Dillon Lail faced the same opponent he had lost to in his Indian Classic final's match by a one point overtime escape. A first period takedown by Dillon by a leg attack was scored and his opponent skillfully gained and escape, 2-1. Second period started with Dillon in down position and he scores a reversal and rides out the period, 4-1. In the third period, NC took down and gained an early escape, 4-2, with a lot of time on the clock. NC had to attack to pull out the match. Shot after shot, scramble after scramble, no one could score nor be scored on. As an ole 50's song from the Coasters went, "And Then-n-n?!, And Then-n-n?!. Along Came "Dillon"". "Here comes the BOOM!" The move the Saint faithful were longing for. "BOOM", a cinched up tight Head Lock. Dillon had scored a takedown, now leading 6-2 with back exposure pending, but the Tribe need more than a simple win tonight. The crowd on both sides were screaming. Time running low on the clock. NC fighting hard to get out.
"And Then-n-n!, And Then-n-n!" PIN-N-N! Redemption! 6 POINTS for the Tribe!! Mom screams in relief, Aunt and Uncle breaks down remembering days gone by and pride in a nephew.
(Wait a second while I wipe my eyes, again.) Saint 15 NC 5.

152: Senior Jon Holloway faced the same NC wrestler that sent him into the consolation bracket at the Indian Classic Semi-Finals. The stress was on. What happened in the Classic could not happen tonight if the Tribe had a chance to win. Jon took the lead tonight with a first period takedown. The "RED PYTHON" was back. Jon never gave up control, 2-0. Second period NC took down planning on a reversal to tight the score, but "NO-O-O". Jon stayed in control for 2 minutes, still 2-0. Third period the slithering "RED PYTHON" took down. What do you with 6 and one half feet of sweaty slither? Jon works out of bottom and put NC on their back. "PIN". Saint 21 NC 5.

160: Senior Jonn-Marc Stevenson, another 6 and one half feet of "ANACONDA" and our Indian Classic Champion, took the mat for another must need win for the Tribe. First period action was tense as NC gained the takedown, but Jonn-Marc worked a reversal and rode out the period, 2-2. Second period Jonn-Marc took down and then the "ANACONDA" slashed around to gain the reversal and put NC on their back. With time running out in the second, Jonn-Marc wraps up the "PIN" (I'm just quoting the Official) . Saint 27 NC 5.

171: Sophomore Warren Boyette, a recent addition varsity starter, was in the pivot position of the match. If NC mounted their comeback at this point, the match would be in critical jeopardy. Warren fix that problem right off the whistle with a takedown and a 0:56 "PIN". (I didn't even have time to wipe off the sweat and slime from hugging Dillon, Jon, and Jonn-Marc). A HUGE, BIG TIME STEP UP from Warren. Saint 33 NC 5. (I got to hug Warren too!)

At this point your thinking, "Well, its over." OH Contraire! NC still had the big weapons to pull out the match. There were still 7 matches, 42 obtainable points, yet unclaimed in the match.

189: Sophomore Colton McDowell had tough assignment of taking on NC's second place finisher of the Indian Classic. Size and power ruled the match for NC. Colton was taken down, but to his credit, he fought off two nearfall situations and gained an escape in the first period, 1-7. Second period Colton took down to try for another escape, but NC was overpowering from this position and pinned for NC. Saint 33 NC 11.

215: Junior Dale Huffman had the next tough assignment for Saint, going against NC's heavy weight Indian Classic champion. Dale fought off the NC champion until late in the 3rd period. It was a great effort, but down 2-13, Dale was pinned at 5:23. He almost made it a major decision for NC, but not tonight. Saint 33 NC 17.

285: Freshman Jose Zavala got his first taste of varsity action tonight against NC's 215 Indian Classic champion. Jose has the courage, but was pinned in 1:30. Saint 33 NC 23.

There were still 24 more points to be obtained in the match. Anything was still possible for both teams.

103: Sophomore Blake Rogers took an early 5-0 lead in the first period. He was controlling the second period, but worked to far over the top and was pinned by his NC opponent. Saint 33 NC 29.

Just a 4 point lead and Saint needed to stop the bleeding. Three matches to go and 18 points still yet on the table for both teams.

112: Junior Bradley Bader had another match up with his Indian Classic opponent from NC. First period action ended with Bradley scoring a takedown and riding out the period, 2-0. Second period Bradley took down and scored a reversal. NC scored an escape, but Bradley blasted another take down and rode out the period, 6-1. NC took down and worked his best period of the match. NC scored a reversal, Bradley scored a reversal, NC scored and escape and a takedown. The late rally by NC came up short, Bradley won 8-6. Saint 36 NC 29.

A 7 point lead with 12 points on the table. And you thought the match was over earlier, didn't you. Admit it, didn't you! The Saint vs NC is always a brawl to the finish.

119: Senior Jesse Hudson bumped up to hold off the big score from NC. He did just that fighting out of 4 nearfall situations. The match ended with an NC techfall in the third period, but no pin. This was a courageous effort from a young man whose career has been constrained by injuries. He was "ALL IN" for the senior class tonight.
Saint 36 NC 34.

A 2 point lead. One match to go. 6 points to claim.

But then, we have the "Farns"

125: Senior Ray Farnsworth slammed the door on the match. First period Ray's up 8-0. Second period Ray runs the score to 16-0, techfall. Ray's NC opponent would not give up a pin, but he could not stop the scoring. Ray just wrestles. Tonight, pin not required. Saint 41 NC 34.

This was an "ALL IN" team effort tonight lead by the seniors. They reclaimed the "team intensity" even from the bench. At times they were cheering harder for their teammate on the mat than the Saint Crowd. It was refreshing and sentimental to see this once again. ""ALL IN" for the TEAM"".

Thanks to all of you Saint Fans that came to the match tonight. Your support gives tremedous confidence to our wrestlers. Also, thanks to all of you that helped clean up the gym.

Saint's dual record is now 6-2 and we're going to the West Lincoln, (Made famous on the 6 o'clock news for a painted rock in the front yard) Rebel Duals this Saturday. You will be able to find West Lincoln if you follow the road signs that say "This way to the Billy Baker Memorial Shrine". It's on all the Historical Markers in Lincoln County.

Well, that's it for tonight from Baker Arena. Stats will be update by Wednesday.
The Saint Wrestling Super Station is Signing Off forTonight!!
(Ok, Nancy. You can stop pedalling now. Gee, your kinda sweaty.)

Saint Finishes 7th at Morehead Holiday Classic

We had a good showing at the individual event this weekend. The format of the tournament was such that you had to make it to the top 4 in the championship bracket to obtain first through fourth placements. Any lose prior to the Semi-Finals dropped the wrestler into the consolation bracket that would place 5th through 8th. This had to be the format in order to have more than 12 teams in a one day tournament, given the 5 match/day state rule.

Ray Farnsworth placed with a championship at 119. Alex Pollard placed 2nd at 130. Dillon Lail place 3rd at 140, Jon Holloway placed 4th at 152, Bradley Bader placed 5th at 112, Ian Martin placed 5th at 135, Jonn-Marc Stevenson placed 7th at 160.

Saint Defeats East Burke 66-15

It was a night of line up changes for the Tribe as they went against the young team of East Burke. Justin Shuffler, East Burke's Head Coach, is working hard to rebuild a great program that was crashed by the shift of students to the new Patton High School. We have known Coach Shuffler since the days when he was a wrestler for the Cavilers. He his a great young man with a bright future in coaching.

Saint won 11 of the 14 matches. We won with 9 pins and were given 2 forfeits.

Pinning for the Tribe tonight was Bradley Bader, Ray Farnsworth, Hunter Schronce, Alex Pollard, Dillon Lail, Jonn-Marc Stevenson, Warren Boyette, Dillon Whisnant, and Dale Huffman.

We have four new members that have made a very positive impact in our line up. Hunter Schronce, Zach Fincannon, Warren Boyette, and Dillon Whisnant are starting to fill in our weight classes very competitively. You will see their efforts on going throughout the season.

There was not a lot of detail to relate to you tonight. For the most part, our guys just attacked - got the takedown - then pinned.

Jesse Hudson had a tough match tonight and battled up to the last minute. Jesse had the first takedown of the match and was ahead 5-4 at the end of the second period. An exscape and a quick takedown just as time was running out in the match, gave the win to the East Burke wrestler, 7-11. Jesse's opponent Ginules Xoing had finished 4th in the Indian Classic this past weekend and Jesse gave him all he could handle. Jesse's effort started the match off by holding East Burke to a 3 point win.

Hunter Schronce won tonight with a pin, but not until he had amounted a 11-3 lead. Hunter made three hard takedowns which showed his improvement in his shot attack. Hunter's opponent had finished 3rd at the Indian Classic this past weekend at 130.

Congratulations to Alex Pollard
Alex reached his 100th Career Win Milestone tonight with a pin against East Burke.
Alex defeated Justin Chandler. Alex had a 4-1 lead in the first period when he finished the match with a pin at 1:02.

Saint Wins 4th Straight Indian Classic

This is the first senior class in recent memory to have ever been on a team that captured 4 straight Indian Classic Titles. Saint never tailed in the tournament, but was always in striking distance for Newton-Conover up through the Championship Finals matches. Saint won with 225 points. Just 23 points ahead of Newton-Conover. Brackets and other results can be viewed on our Indian Classic page.

After a loosing performance last Tuesday night against Ashbrook, it was up in the air as how the Tribe would fair in the 39th Annual Indian Classic. Out of our 13 entries into the Classic, Saint had 6 champions, 3 2nd Place finishers, and 3 3rd Place finishers. It was the full team performance that impressed the Saint faithful.

It was an "ALL IN" team performance. Not only did each man perform for the best possible outcome on the mat, off the mat you could see the teammates grouped on the sidelines cheering on their fellow teammate on the mat.

The Tournament Championship was still up from grabs down through the Championship Finals. Saint was hanging to a 16 point lead. Saint had 9 in the finals, Newton-Conover had 8. Four matches would be head to head. Numerous losses and big wins by pins for Newton-Conover would take the championship away from the tribe.

Blake Rogers at 103 shared the highest point earner honors with teammate Bradley Bader 112, both with 24 team points. Blake's 3 pin performance took him straight to the 103 Champion Title. His win over N-C in the semi-finals match note only propelled him into the championship match, but also reduced the point generating possibilities for NC in this weight class. His pin in the finals gave Saint 6 more points and pushed our lead to 22 points. N-C still had 8 wrestlers to go with a possible gain of 48 points.

Bradley Bader at 112 took no prisoners along the way with 3 pins. The most significant pin was in his final match with N-C in which Bradley pinned in 1:13. This 6 point win pushed the Saint lead to 28 points, with 7 N-C wrestlers to go with a possible 38 points.

Ray Farnsworth at 119 pinned or techfalled through the finals and scored 22.5 points for the Tribe. His win over N-C in his semi-final match helped reduced the point earing power of N-C. This was Ray's 3rd Indian Classic Championship. His win the finals pushed the Saint lead to 33 points with 7 N-C wrestlers to compete with a possible 38 point gain.

Hunter Schronce at 125 was one of several great surprizes in the tournament for Saint. Hunter's varsity record for the seed meeting left him in a pigtail match at the start of the tournament. Win or lose he would stay in the tournament. A win would keep him in the Championship side of the bracket, but with no earned points. He won the pigtail match. Hunter advanced in the Championship side of the bracket with a win over the #2 seed and then the #3 seed in his weight class. He pinned in his next match and then won a 6-0 decision to take out another N-C wrestler in the semi-final. Hunter lost in the finals to place 2nd. Saint was holding to the 33 point lead with 7 N-C wrestlers to go that could gain 38 points.

Alex Pollard at 130 had techfalled in his first match and pinned his #3 Seed opponent on way to the final. He won against his #1 Seeded Bunker Hill opponent 5-3 to claim his championship. His 4 point win pushed our lead to 37, with 7 N-C wrestlers to go that could gain 38 points.

Ian Martin at 135 had the possible Tournament Championship in his hands as he went head to head with N-C in the finals. It was a blood soaked final as both wrestlers suffer cuts around the face due to clean tough action from both the wrestlers. Both wrestlers were taped around the eyes and face and wrapped around their heads to hold on to the bandaging. Ian won the match with a 13-4 major decision which gave the Tribe 5 more team points. It pushed our lead to 42 with only 6 N-C wrestlers to go. The fight for the championship was over. Even if N-C pinned out the finals, they could only get 36 more points.

Dillon Lail at 140 battled his way to the finals with a pin in his first match. His second match was a gutty 5-4 win over a New York state qualifier for West Rowan which was seeded #2 in the weigh class. It went down to the last seconds of the match for Dillon to seal the win. Dillon lost in his finals match 7-6 in overtime to N-C an took the 2nd Place finish. Saints lead over N-C dropped to 38 points.

Gunnar McDowell at 145 pinned his way to the finals. He lost to N-C in the finals and took 2nd Place. Saint's lead over N-C dropped to 32 points.

Jonn-Marc Stevenson at 160 was our last wrestler in the championship round. What a great performance on the day for Jonn-Marc! Jonn-Marc pinned his first two opponents on the day and won his championship with a gritty 7-6 performance over last years state qualifier from South Iredell.

The next three Saint wrestlers were key to giving the Tribe a 16 point lead going into the Championship finals.

Jon Holloway finish in 3rd Place for the Tribe at 152 and gained 14 points for the Tribe. Jon won a 9-3 decision in the Consolation Final.

Warren Boyette, a sophomore at 171, started his varsity career at the Indian Classic and took 3rd Place with a tremendous day of wrestling. He was another great surprize for the Saint fans. Warren lost his first round match to the eventual champion of his weigh class. He came back in consolation with 3 straight pins to take the 3rd Place finish. He also won over a N-C opponent in the consolation semifinals to help set up the 16 point lead over N-C before the Championship finals.

Dale Huffman at 215 lost his first match to the eventual winner of the weight class. He came back in the consolations to pin in his 3rd Place finish.

Petey Nehls at 285 battled in his first Indian Classic. He lost in two tough heavy weight matches of 0-1 and 6-1.

This was huge turn around performance by the Tribe. It was a great accomplishment for the Senior line up to be on 4 straight Indian Classic win streak.

Congratulations to Dale Huffman
Dale reached his 25th Career Win Milestone tonight with a pin for his 3rd Place finish at the Indian Classic.
Dale defeated Casey Hicks of West Lincoln. Dale had a 9-6 lead in the 3rd period when he finished the match with a pin.

Saint took it's first road trip of the year tonight to grapple with the Greenwave of Ashbook. Saint fell behind early, made a surge to the lead, but fell back again at the close of the match 27-35

Saint was behind 0-12 when Bradley Bader won a 8-4 decision to start the Tribe scoring 3-12.

Indians Take 4 out of 5 at Indian Duals

A new season begins and a new year of our Saint Wrestling web site. I hope you tell your friends about the web site and send in email addresses to Roy Hoffman for urgent notifications. Please send in any pictures that you think tell the story of each of our matches this year. Also, send in any information on links that are not working. I will be updating the history section from last year sometime this week. The Career Wins Milestones will also be updated after the Tuesday's match.

The Tribe had a good first outing on the season with 4 straight wins over East Mecklenburg, RS Central, Thomas Jefferson Academy, and South Caldwell. The Tribe fell short in the final match of the evening with Davie County. The full team bracket results can be seen on the Indian Dual web page.

The Tribe charged through the RS Central match with pins from Blake Rogers, Jesse Hudson, Ray Farnsworth, Dillon Lail, Jonn-Marc Stephens, Dillon Whisnant, Dale Huffman, and Pety Nehls. Ian Martin score a 18-1 techfall. Alex Pollard and Jon Holloway both scored major decisions. The final score was 60-17.

The young team of Thomas Jefferson Academy had a difficult time with the Tribe. We won 84-0.

The South Caldwell match was a toss up as both teams split the matches 7-7. The Tribe had to score big in its wins to hold off a late surge by South Caldwell in the later matches. Pinning for the Tribe were Blake Rogers, Freshman Chris Hunt, Ray Farnsworth, Alex Pollard, and Dillon Lail. Ian Martin scored his second techfall of the year in a 17-4 final. Jon Holloway scored a decision to close out the scoring for the Tribe. A positive sign in our lost matches was that our wrestlers held the score close, thus only giving up 3 point decisions in 5 matches.

Davie was a different story for the Tribe as we lost 18-42. Senior Alex Pollard scored a decision, Ian Martin and Gunnar McDowell scored pins, and Jon Holloway scored a decison.

We travel to Ashbrook on Tuesday. If you need directions to Ashbrook, go to our Maps links to obtain a printout.
